Imphal, September 09 2012:
Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been working to fulfil all the promises as declared before the last Assembly elections as well as the assurances given by Mamata Banerjee including enforcement of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, said Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting M Jatua and the party's chief whip in the Rajya Sabha Derek O Brien.
M Jatua and Derek O Brien visited Imphal for a few hours today.
Addressing a press conference at Hotel Nirmala here, the two TMC leaders claimed that their party has been working to fulfil the assurances it gave to the people of Manipur before the last Assembly elections.

They also claimed that the popularity of TMC is rising in Manipur.
TMC has 28 MPs in the Parliament and they have raised and discussed many issues relating to the North East including Manipur in the Parliament.
In Manipur too, the party has seven MLAs and they have been taking the perfect role of Opposition.
Election of seven MLAs and loss of many party candidates by close margins showed that Manipuri people have faith in TMC, said Jatua and Derek O Brien.
Responding to a query on Inner Line Permit System (ILPS), they said that TMC, after acknowledging seriousness of the issue, put it in the election manifesto.
The party is equally serious about the assurances given by its president Mamata Banerjee and it has been working to translate the assurances into action.
Regarding the harassment and assaults on Manipuri students and professionals staying in different cities of India recently, the duo said that the issue raised in the Parliament thrice by TMC MPs.
TMC also worked to its best level to restore peace and harmony in the North East region.
The press meet was also attended by TMC State unit president and ex-MP Kim Gangte and its legislature wing leader Dr I Ibohalbi.
Before the press meet, Jatua and Derek O Brien held a meeting with the party's senior leaders and MLAs, and they discussed about strengthening the party.
