Imphal, May 08 2026:
The fate or whereabouts of 45-year-old Olinah Ningshen who was abducted by a combined force of Myanmar-based KNA-B and PDF on Thursday remains unknown till today.
A combined force of KNA-B and PDF attacked the border villages of Wanglee, Choro and Namlee, set several houses on fire and abducted Olinah Ningshen together with some Burmese refugees taking shelter at Namlee.
One T Ramthar, a resident of Wanglee village told The Sangai Express that armed militants belonging to KNA-B and PDF crossed into the territory of Manipur and attacked the border villages with sophisticated weapons.
Following the attack, the villagers have been taking shelter at a place of Wanglee together with those Burmese people taking shelter in the village relief camps.
Olinah Ningshen w/o Luckyson Ningshen who was abducted by the Myanmar-based Kuki militants has not been freed yet.
Nonetheless, there are reports that Olinah Ningshen and other abductees are being detained at Tanan village in Myanmar.
But the authenticity of these reports could not be verified, he said.
When villagers approached the Assam Rifles troops stationed at K Ashang Khullen to help search the missing persons, the AR troops told the villagers that they are helpless in areas beyond their jurisdiction.
Ramthar said that 10 police personnel arrived at Namlee outpost this morning.
He said that the villagers do not have an iota of trust in the Assam Rifles.
AR troops visited the border villages on the night of May 6 before these villages came under heavy attack from Myanmar-based militants the next morning.
Even as the villages were attacked with sophisticated firearms and explosives, AR troops did not make any effort to reach the spot quickly, he said.
Saying that the villagers are grateful for whatever relief materials they have received from different quarters, he decried the Government's failure to send adequate strength of State forces to protect the border villages.
Meanwhile, MLA Leishiyo Keishing today visited Choro and Namlee villages where several houses were burnt by the Kuki militants.
Except for a Church, all the houses of Choro village were burnt down by the combined force of KNA-B and PDF during the attack yesterday.
They also burnt down some other houses of Namlee and Wanglee.
