Imphal, March 06 2025:
Even as the deadline to surrender illegal weapons expired today, Central and State security forces conducted a flag march and area domination exercise in different areas of Bishnupur and Churachandpur today.
Security measures have also been taken up at Gamgiphai in Kangpokpi.
This move comes as the Centre's promise to reopen highways on March 8 draws near.
The flag march is a show of force to maintain law and order, while area domination exercises aim to secure strategic locations and prevent militant activities.
The flag march in Bishnupur started from Nambol Irabot stand with 272 Central and Security personnel and proceeded towards Sabal Leikai crossing and then to Kangmong area where a cordon and search operation was carried out.
Some houses were searched at Kangmong but there is no report of any arrest.
From Kangmong, the security team resumed the march towards Kangmong Leimaram.
The flag march was taken out by district police, CRPF, RAF and Assam Rifles.
Photos and videos of security forces taking out a flag march in Churachandpur have surfaced online.

The recovered items include one 7.62mm SLR rifle with a magazine, one carbine with two magazines, two hand grenades, one rifle bayonet, three 9mm pistols among other ammunition.
