Lamka, December 04: Plagued by various inconvenient episodes the indefinite general strike of CDSU that crippled the entire district for three consecutive days has been suspended today.

At a press conference held late in the evening, leaders of CDSU claimed that the strike was suspended following the assurance given by Chief Secretary to consider their grievances and in view of the misery students were subjected to, as most of them were in the midst of their final examination.

The strike has already attracted numerous criticisms while loads of volunteers authorized and unauthorized went on rampage even minutes before the strike was suspended.

A maruti van was badly damaged in a melee today while two local reporters and their vehicles were attacked.

The attack on media persons despite a specific clause on relaxation on the media persons call has attract the wrath of the Manipur Hills Journalist Union and it has demanded appropriate action against the erring strike supporters from CDSU.

MHJU meanwhile, took strong exception to the press release of Thengra Leirak Youth Club wherein it accused some of the local dailies of bias and termed their report as 'mother of all lies.' In a strongly worded statement issued today, MHJU alleged that it was none of the business of TLYC to teach the media fraternity on the ethics of journalism.

An emergency meeting of MHJU convened today analysed various accounts of the five reporters who witnessed the incident and dared to counter the false implication, as even video footage of the incident was produced by the reporters.

A five day time for tendering undue apology for maiming the media has been served on AB Mangang, the signatory of press release failing which he will be held responsible for action being initiated by MHJU.
