Imphal, September 04 2025:
The Naga People's Organisation (NPO), Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) and Senapati District Students' Association have endorsed the 'trade embargo' announced by the United Naga Council (UNC) in all Naga inhabited areas from the midnight of September 8 .
In a joint statement, NPO, SDWA, and SDSA said the UNC has consistently and clearly conveyed its sentiments and stance regarding the abrogation of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the construction of border fencing across the 'Naga homeland,' starting January 19, 2024 .
However, the indifferent attitude of the Government has compelled the UNC to take up this stringent agitation, registering the firm and uncompromising stance of the Nagas against the abrogation of FMR and border fencing, it said.
The Naga organisations stated that the agitation will be strictly enforced by all apex bodies in Senapati, with no relaxation or exemption allowed at any level, except for those specifically exempted by the UNC .
