Imphal, May 03 2025:
Marking the second anniversary of the genocidal and ethnic cleansing campaign launched by Kuki-Chin-Zos on May 3, 2023, people suspended all their normal daily activities today.
Heeding to the call of COCOMI to suspend all normal daily activities in memory of those people who laid down their lives defending the integrity of Manipur, all markets and shops remained closed at Imphal today.
Schools and colleges too remained shut while attendance at Government offices was extremely low.
There was little vehicular movement on all major roads of the capital city.
With the exception of pharmacies, all shops at Thangal Keithel and Paona Keithel remained closed, and Khwairamband Keithel wore a deserted look.
Other than vehicles which were transporting people for the May 3 commemorative functions organised by COCOMI, FOCS and others, there was little vehicular movement on the roads.
On the other hand, security forces took up tight security measures in and around Imphal.
While COCOMI hosted a public convention at Khuman Lampak, FOCS commemorated the May 3 anniversary as a day of remembrance and reflection.
The May 3 anniversary was also observed at many other places.
