Imphal, October 02 2025: An unruly Kuki mob attacked State security personnel last night at Longja Kuki village, Chandel district under Chakpikarong police station and destroyed windshields of police vehicles.

Acting on specific information about the presence of a cache of arms and ammunition in the surrounding areas of Longja Kuki village, a team of Chandel district police under the supervision of SP Dhamendra Kumar went to Longja village last night to carry out search operations.

When the district police reached the vicinity of Longja Kuki village at around 9 pm, a large Kuki mob gathered on the road leading toward Longja Kuki village and prevented the security personnel from proceeding further, sources said.

Even as the SP Chandel was talking with those who were blocking the road, an unruly mob, all of a sudden, pelted stones upon the security personnel, taking advantage of the darkness.

The sources said that the unruly Kuki mob destroyed the windshields of the Additional SP's vehicle and two other vehicles of Manipur Police commando.

In spite of the unprovoked attack by the Kuki mob, Chandel district police did not retaliate nor did they fire a single round of tear gas shell to disperse the unruly mob.

Later an additional team of Central security forces rushed to the incident site and safely evacuated the team of Chandel district police.

They reached the district headquarters at around 3 am today, said the sources There is no report of any injury on the side of security personnel during the attack by the unruly Kuki mob.
