Chaoba negates president replacement move
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, May 31 2014 : "There is no likelihood of replacing me as the BJP State unit president even if there are minor diffe-rences within the party.

An in- vestigation would be launched soon to identify the master-brains instigating the move to topple me", Th Chaoba stated.

Speaking to media persons at the BJP Nityaipat Chuthek office today, Chaoba claimed that no BJP national leaders have ever talked about replacing him with some one else as the BJP Manipur Pradesh president.

The process of appointing a new BJP president is yet to be completed as the party is still in a state of euphoria over the party's spectacular performance in the 16th Lok Sabha election.

There is no question of replacing incumbent State unit presidents until the process of appointing a new BJP president is completed.

No political game about electing a new party president is going on within the party at present.

As for the few party members who are presently at Delhi, they might have gone there to attend the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister and call on some of the newly inducted Cabinet Ministers, Chaoba speculated.

Clarifying to the allegation of committing misdeeds at the time of allotting party tickets in the run up to the 16th Lok Sabha election, Chaoba said that the authority to allot party tickets does not lie with the State unit president.

All the applications seeking party tickets were for- warded to the Centre.

Allotment of tickets were finalized by the party's parliamentary board.

The allegation made by the dissidents were baseless, Chaoba asserted.

He said that he would conduct a thorough investigation to find out those individuals who instigated the move to remove him from the post of president.

Saying that the question of NPF joining NDA or otherwise is not in his capacity, Chaoba iterated that NPF was not a partner of NDA before the 16th Lok Sabha elections.

There was neither friendly contest nor did NPF support NDA.

It was only after the elections that NPF joined NDA.

Decrying that people of Manipur were not allowed to watch the live telecast of Narendra Modi's swearing in ceremony because of power outage, Chaoba said that it looked like power supply was cut off deliberately.

A representation has been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enquire into the matter.

Noting that votes secured by BJP in the 16th Lok Sabha election was much higher than the votes secured in the previous parliamentary election, Chaoba conveyed gratitude on behalf of the BJP State unit to the people of Manipur.

He said that he talked with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his recent sojourn at Delhi on the State's law and order situation.

Chaoba further claimed that the Union Home Minister assured him to take up some concrete measures in order to improve the law and order situation.

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari was also urged to complete the development work of Imphal-Jiribam highway without any further delay.

During a meeting with Union Minister Prakash Javedkar, Chaoba raised the issue of Loktak Lake and the latter assured that he would come to Manipur shortly.

Prof Gangmumei Kamei who was also present at the press meet rejected the allegation that BJP candidates lost the Lok Sabha elections in Manipur because of wrong decision at the time of allotting party tickets.

There was no question of bias or prejudice on the party of the State unit president at the time of allotting tickets.

BJP lost the Outer seat because of massive proxy voting and poll rigging by NSCN-IM in favour of NPF.

Dr RK Ranjan too maintained that he lost the Inner Seat as a result of the ruling party resorting to excessive muscle power, money power and proxy voting.
