Tourism Dir inspects works at Khongjom complex

Director of Tourism Lourembam Bikram conducted an inspection of ongoing development works being carried out in and around the Khongjom War Memorial Complex, including the Khongjom Kheba Ching, on Saturday.
The inspection covered various components of the project initiated by the Tourism Department to transform the site into a Mega Tourist Centre.
The initiative was originally launched under the leadership of then chief minister O Ibobi Singh, with the objective of enhancing the historical site's tourism potential.
Speaking during the inspection, director Lourembam Bikram stated that the responsibility of maintaining the tourist centre should not rest solely with the government.
He pointed out the need for collective efforts and appealed to meira paibis and local club volunteers to extend their cooperation in developing and preserving the site.
During the visit, the Tourism director, reviewed the progress of fencing works, development of water bodies, landscaping of gardens and construction of a main entrance gate.
He also inspected the designated site for a cafeteria, the ongoing construction of a hall within the complex, the status of witter supply scheme and the Khongjom Guest House.
He was accompanied by Home, DP and Finance additional secretary Ahanthem Subhash, as well as representatives of local clubs around Khongjom Kheba Ching and meira paibis.
As part of the visit, tree plantation was also carried out around the Khongjom Guest House.
