Job card holders stage protest demanding work

Imphal, October 26 2024: The job card holders of eight Gram Panchayat of Langthabal and Lamshang AGs on Friday staged a protest in front of Imphal West Deputy Commissioner's office, demanding they be allowed to work.

Thronging Imphal West ZP chairperson Laishram Boby Devi's office, the job card holders put pressure on the DC and CEO to give the work order.

Later, speaking to the media, Boby stated that the conflict has great affected the economy of the state.

Amid this, the authority concerned had suspended MGNREGA work, thereby putting immense financial stress on the rural population.

Although the High Court had issued a stay order on September 26 allowing ZP & GP members to continue work as usual.

However, the DC and officials have been suspending the works till date.

As such, Boby appealed to the DC to help alleviate the suffering of the job card holders.
