Huge cache of arms recovered as SFs continue operations

Imphal, June 22 2025:
Security forces continued search operations and area domination drills in vulnerable zones of the state, recovering a large cache of arms, ammunition, explosives and tactical equipment over the past 24 hours mostly from the valley districts.
In Imphal East district, an operation was conducted in Mayophung-Sanasabi hill under Yaingangpokpi police station, leading to the recovery of 1 bipod-mounted .303 rifle,.
2 heavy calibre mortars, 20 mortar bombs, 2 Burmese IEDs, 4 Baofeng radio sets with chargers, 1 pistol, 7 hand grenades (No 36), 3 O-ring grenades, 5 white phosphorus grenades (No 8 WP), 1 bulletproof jacket with plate and another without plate, a helmet, a pouch, a pair of jungle shoes, and assorted ammunition including 7 live .303 rounds, 20 rounds of 7.62 mm, and 3 pistol rounds.
In another operation at the foothills of Chingkhei Ching near Phaknung village under Lamlai PS, security forces recovered a substantial quantity of weapons and warlike stores which include 1 INSAS LMG, 1 INSAS rifle, 2 self-loading rifles (SLR), 1 sniper rifle, 1.32 pistol, 2 bulletproof jackets, 4 BP plates and 3 helmets.
Forces also seized 6 live INSAS (5.56 mm) rounds, 6 live 7.62 mm rounds, 3 jive .32 rounds, and over 140 empty cases of different calibres including .303, 5.56 mm, 9 mm, and AK-type ammunition.
Additionally, 37 blank .303 cartridges, 3 charger clips, 4 tear smoke shells, and 1 rubber bullet were also recovered.
In Imphal West district, one active cadre of the proscribed KCP (PWG) was apprehended from Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang Thonkhong.
The arrested individual was identified as Yan-glem Sadananda Singh (26) of Mayang Imphal Thana Wangkhei Leikai.
A red Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 motorcycle without registration number, a mobile phone with SIM card, and 19 extortion letters of KCP (PWG) were seized from his possession.
A separate operation conducted in Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai hill range under Arong Nongmaikhong PS in Kakching district resulted in the recovery of 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 SMG carbine, 2 single barrel guns, 1 modified 9 mm pistol, 3 IEDs weighing around 2 kg each, 10 PEK explosive packets of 125 grams each, 8 wire detonators, 1 tube launcher, 1 scope lens, 1 HE grenade, 6 anti-riot rubber bullets, 1 school bag, 1 gunny bag, 1 pair of jungle boots, 3 camouflage bulletproof covers, 4 helmets and over 50 rounds of mixed live ammunition including 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, .303 and 9 mm, along with over 15 empty cases.
In Kangpokpi district, an operation between the jungle of L Phaikot and Leilon Vaiphei, under Leimakhong PS, led to the recovery of 1 pumpi gun, 1 SLR with magazine, 1 radio set, 2 small-size IEDs, 2 large-size IEDs weighing around 25 kg each, 1 pumpi ammunition, and 1 live 7.62x51 mm round.
Another coordinated sweep at the foothills of Gwarok Mahadev under Yairipok PS in Thoubal district yielded 1 SLR with magazine, 1 SMG carbine, 1 9 mm pistol with magazine, 3 HE hand grenades, 2 launch tubes, 3 detonators, 2 helmets, 3 wireless handsets, and a mix of live and spent rounds including .303, 5.56 mm, 9 mm, 7.62 mm and 7.62x39 mm cartridges.
A WP Green 80 MK grenade and 3 anti-riot rubber bullets were also seized.
