Woman held with ₹15 lakh worth of drugs

Imphal, December 21 2024: A woman from Kh-ergao Awang Leikai was held with Rs 15 lakh worth of drugs on Friday evening.

The woman has been identified as Nongjaimayum Jobida Begum (35) wife of Md Salim of Khergao Awang Leikai.

According to a report, on receiving information of presence of some drug peddlers in Khergao area, a team of proscribed PLA's State Force (Special Task Force) apprehended Jobida with around Rs 15 lakh worth of drugs at around 7 pm Friday.

The Task Force previously apprehended one Khullakpam Sophia (35) on December 19, when she came to get the drugs from Jobida.

Both Jobida and Sophia were released with strict warning against any further drug peddling, as this was their first offence.

The seized drugs were destroyed in an area of Imphal East district.
