Workshop, orientation programmes conducted

A 1-day national workshop cum awareness programme on "Protecting Plant Varieties and Empowering Farmers under PPV & FRA" was held today at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal West, 'CAR-Manipur Centre in Lamphelpat.
The workshop was or ganised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, .
Manipur Centre in collaboration with ICAR-KVKs of' Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Tamenglong and Ukhrul.
It was attended by Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West; Dr S Yoirentomba Meetei, Deputy Director, MSME-Technology Centre, Imphal; Dr I Meghachandra Singh, retired Principal Scientist, ICAR Manipur Centre; Dr Ramgopal Laha, retired Head of Regional Centre, ICAR Manipur Centre; and Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Head of Regional Centre, ICAR Manipur Centre as presidium members.
Dr L Kanta Singh, Senior Scientist cum Head, ICAR-KVK Imphal West was also present at the event.
Meanwhile, a 1-day orientation & awareness programme on "Harnessing Renewable Energy Sources" and discussion on "Different Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's schemes related to Farmers" was held today at Laipham Khunou Multipurpose Community Hall.
The programme was organised by Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) under the aegis of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.
At the event, MANIREDA Joint Director Wakambam Suraj stressed on the need for farmers to adopt renewable energy sources like solar and wind power to significantly reduce their environmental impact, decrease energy costs and improve sustainability.
He also appealed to the people to visit the Secured Office of Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency at North AOC to know more about the different schemes/programmes initiated by the State and Central Governments for the welfare of the farmers.
Moreover, a 4-day workshop on "Competency Based Question Bank Development" began today at the conference hall of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) in Babupara.
The workshop was organised by BOSEM under the aegis of PARAKH-NCERT, New Delhi.
The inaugural function was graced by BOSEM Chairman Akham Joykumar, Secretary S Jitenlal and Exam Controller Ayam Thoi as presidium members.
About 90 subject experts were also present at the event.
