Police team assesses situation in Kwatha village

Imphal, December 19 2024: A team of Tengnoupal district police led by additional superintendent of police (Ops) Md Riyajuddin on Thursday visited Kwatha village and assessed present situation in the area.

Residents of the only-Meetei Kwatha village, located at a distance of 7 km from NH-102 Kwatha Lamkhai under Moreh sub-division in Tengnoupal district, are confined within the village ever since the conflict broke out on May 3 last year.

Representatives of Kwatha Village Authority confided to the Addl SP that they are neither able to till their land located in the adjoining Kwatha Khunou village nor practice agricultural activities nearby their native village due to unavailability of seeds.

Mention may be made that residents of Kwatha Khunou are also taking refuge at Kwatha Khunjao, all under the protection of Assam Rifles, BSF and IRB personnel deployed in the area.
