Seminar on indigenous wisdom begins

Ibotombi Institute of Education, Canchipur and College Development Council (CDC), Manipur University jointly inaugurated a three-day national seminar on "Rejuvenating Indigenous Wisdom: Manipur's Indian Knowledge System (IKS) under NEP 2020" at the seminar hall of the Institute on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Institute principal and IKS master teacher Dr RK Bijen stressed the need for including the 2000-year old crafts and practices of Manipur such as pottery, blacksmithing and traditional healing after curating the same with a scientific mind - in the syllabus of educational institutions.
He mentioned that efforts are being made to build a repository, preparing textbooks and digital repositories for indigenous assets of north eastern states including Manipur, which are to be included under the IKS Division of the Ministry.
The inaugural function was attended by MU School of Human & Environmental Sciences dean Prof Soibam Jibonkumar, Dhanamanjuri University former VC Prof Nongmaithem Rajmuhon and Manipur High Court senior member Paonam Haricharan as presidium members.
