AR conducts various events in run up to Independence Day

Assam Rifles celebrated the 79th Independence Day at Gaidimjang, Khoupum valley, Noney district on Wednesday, with a District Level Girls' Football Tournament, a Thanga march, and Tiranga bike rally.
Assam Rifles Noney Battalion commandant the events as chief guest and hoisted the National Flag at the Jadonang Park as the AR Pipe Band played the National Anthem.
In his address prior, the commandant lauded the spirit of the girls in participating in the celebration, encouraged youth to serve society with courage and unity, and elaborated on purpose of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign, ranging from equal opportunities for girls in education, sports, to encouraging their participation in community service.
The release continued that around 411 locals participated, including five girls' football teams and nearly 300 spectators.
The Tiranga march and bike rally energised the community, while cultural performances like pipe band display by Noney Battalion of AR, Zumba aerobics and traditional dances showcased the region's rich heritage.
The football tournament was competitive and spirited, with winners, runners-up, and participants receiving trophies, medals,' certificates and cash prizes.
The celebration concluded with a warm community lunch, fostering camaraderie and unity.
