Poumai Music Niih 2024 captivates thousands

In a night filled with music, nostalgia, and cultural pride, the 2nd edition of the Poumai Music Niih 2024 took place at Khabung Karong Volleyball Court in Senapati district on November 9, drawing thousands in celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Poumai community though vibrant performances and heartfelt melodies.
The musical nite organised by Poumai Music Niih Committee was opened by the festival's brand ambassador and RUBARU Mr India 2022 Banner James Lanamai.
Notably, the event also saw the return of Naga bands, Rahbo Band and Thunder Band, both formed over 35 years ago, who electrified the stage, proving that their energy and musical prowess are timeless, according to a release.
Adding to the cultural depth, P Sapunii Neopu Yonah, a celebrated Poumai cultural icon, delivered a stirring performance of traditional folk songs and showcased Poumai's rich heritage with traditional instruments and 'Gaigou' music.
Thousands cheered to the mesmerising 'Blowing of the Buffalo Horn' by Low Thekho which highlighted the festival's commitment to preserving Poumai culture.
The release continued that the line-up was a stellar mix of both new and established talent, featuring Poumai and Naga artistes like Drowzy Mamas Band, Zhetsiine, Jenny Rosii, Veivane Stephen, Ethan Shoraivei, Mr Rox, Pavei James and B Rakhoveine (The Poumai Folk Fusion Stars) and Liihva Kyapaomai.
Representing the Poumai, Chakhesang, Maram, and Mao communities, artistes like Khrurhiilii Rhi, Ngouni Niyo, and Koshuni Ariina brought unique cultural flavours, enhancing the night with diverse and vibrant performances.
Supported by the Poumai Naga Union (PNU) and Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) and backed by enthusiastic Poumai youth, the event saw participation from local sponsors and talents, added the release.
