Imphal, August 13 2025: Seven species of fingerlings, including the indigenous 'Pengba', were released in the Ima Ireima pond of Lainingthou Sanamahi shrine at Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham on Tuesday.

The fingerlings were donated by Soibam Surchandra, a national awardee for successfully rearing 'Pengba' .

The species released included 'Pengba', 'Ngaton/ Khabak', 'Rohu', grass carp, silver carp, common carp and 'Katala' .

Speaking on the occasion, S Surchandra expressed that the fingerlings were donated to further enhance the aesthetics of the shrine, particularly the pond.

Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board member secretary Meisnam Shivadutta Luwang expressed board's gratitude to S Surchandra for the donation, while appealing to public to continue to extend their support.
