He said tha Kamong these, when a few manage to truly capture the hearts and souls of the people, Manipur's literature will gain recognition and praise from across the world.
For this vision to be realised, he called upon writers in the state to work with dedication and perseverance.
He recalled that in earlier, times, the government provided grants to writers for publishing their works.
Back then, authors would submit their manuscripts to a review committee, which would evaluate the works and decide whether they were suitable for publication.
Only after receiving the committee's approval would the writer be granted financial assistance for printing the book.
The government would also purchase copies of the published work.
However, he lamented, such initiatives have now ceased.
He also spoke about the field of sports, in which Manipur has earned global recognition.
The government, he noted, cannot remain silent when sportspersons excel in national and international events, bringing laurels to the state.
Today, sportspersons have a place in government jobs.
Similarly; he said, writers of Manipur should also strive to reach a level where they cannot be sidelined, which in turn would strengthen the state's literary landscape and instil pride among its authors.
