IBDO appeals for 'neutral' SDO

Imphal, September 08 2024: Island Block Development Organisation (IBDO) has appealed for appointing a neutral SDO who can navigate the diverse socio-political landscape of the Island Block under Kangpokpi district.

In a release, IBDO president Ramnganing Jajo referred to the recent transfer and posting order issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Personnel Division) on September 5 assigning Samuel Misao as the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Block Development Officer (BDO) of Lhungtin and Island Block in addition.

Stating that the Island block under Kangpokpi district is predominantly inhabited by the Naga community, he observed that given the specific demographic and cultural dynamics of the region, there are concerns that Misao's appointment may lead to challenges in effective administration due to potential communal sensitivities.

Highlighting the need for appointing a neutral SDO, Ramnganing said that such an appointment would ensure that administrative duties are carried out effectively and equitably, without encountering communal barriers that might undermine public trust and governance.
