Imphal, October 04 2024:
Denouncing the recent remarks of Indian Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi, who dismissed reports of drone bombing in Manipur, COCOMI Students' Wing asserted that his contentions were biased and in favour of Kuki militants.
In a release, COCOMI Students' Wing media co-ordinator S Bidyananda said the Army chief denying drone bombing in Manipur, in sharp contradiction to statements of the state's security advisor and the DGP about such bombings and coverage of the same incidents by national media has confused the people.
While expressing that such contradictory statements between security agencies and the security advisor and repeated alteration in their statements seem intended to befool and demean people of Manipur, the coordinator contended that such incongruent statements are only deepening the suspicion that the conflict is a proxy war waged by India.
He also questioned why the central government did not take any action when Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists posed threat to the national security by bring rockets.
In-spite of aware that leaders of Kuki militants especially KNA and ZRA, the masterminds of the conflict that broke out in May 3, are not indigenous people but outsiders, the central government is yet to withdraw from the SoO agreement and initiate necessary actions, he regretted.
Terming as intimidating viral video footages of central security forces helping Kuki militants, the coordinator said there is hope that the central forces will protect the people.
As the central forces have betrayed trust of the people, there is no valid reason to extend cooperation to central forces, Bidyananda said.
