Noney, June 01 2024:
Following an agreement reached between the village authority of Taobam village, the district administration of Noney, and NHIDCL, heavy loaded trucks have started crossing the non-commissioned 4-lane RCC bridge since Friday.
The villagers of Taobam had previously banned heavy vehicles from using the newly constructed bridge due to non-payment of compensation for the additional land acquired and the lack of an approach road for the affected villagers.
It is also worth mentioning that a 7-wagon goods train, ferrying 500 metric tonnes of cement, fruit juices, potatoes, and chicken feed, reached Khongsang train station on May 27 .
All the loaded trucks halted for the night in Noney and left for Imphal with a security convoy on Saturday.
