Imphal, October 31 2024:
Kabui Union Manipur (KUM) vice president L Lanbon Kabui has stated that the Kabui community is still standing strong of Manipur and will not tolerate its disintegration.
On Thursday, United Committee Manipur (UCM) commemorated the October Mass Rally of 2018 on the theme of 'To Let Manipur Live and Grow Together', at Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club.
The observance was attended by UCM president YK Dhiren with consultative members Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, Khomdram Ratan, advocate Leishangthem Jadu and Tourangbam Birjit as presidium members, along with representatives of different organisations.
Speaking on the occasion, KUM vice president L Lanbon Kabui pointed out that the Kabui community has always stood for Manipur and will continue to stand firm for the unity and integrity of the state.
He continued that although threats to unity and integrity of the indigenous communities of the state crop up occasionally, it is up to the indigenous communities to stay united and work together to fend off against any such threats.
In his speech, UCM president YK Dhiren said that the 'Idea of Manipur' is now endangered after merging with India and subsequent application of the divide-and-rule policy in the state.
As such, present-day Manipur is not only divided between different communities but there is also division within just one community, resulting in loss of love and mistrust between each other, he remarked.
Contending that the on-going conflict is simply a proxy war orchestrated by the central government through Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists, he stressed the need for all 34 indigenous communities to unite and work together to strengthen the unity and integrity of the state.
