Imphal, March 31 2022:
Upon learning that some businessmen hike prices of essential commodities while taking advantage of imposition of bandh/blockade, commissioner (CAF &PD) Boby Waikhom has appealed to people to share information to the department if they found anyone hiking prices of goods so that the department could take up punitive action.
Addressing a press conference held at his office chamber on Thursday, Boby Waikhom said that there is report of SAPO suspending the indefinite bandh imposed in Nagaland portion of NH-2 road.
However, some Imphal bound trucks and other vehicles have moved towards Jiribam as they were not aware about temporary withdrawal of the bandh till Thursday morning.
Even if the bandh/blockade continues further, there is enough stock of petrol for 4/5 days and security arrangement has been made to escort trucks carrying essential commodities into the state, he said, adding that prices of essential com modifies will be reviewed during a meeting of price monitoring committee with bazar community leaders on Friday and new prices will be announced.
Nevertheless, there could be no change of price of essential commodities despite the blockade, he said and appealed to people not to panic.
