Imphal, July 29 2024:
While accusing the Assam Rifles of being partisan vis-a-vis conflict in the state, Nongpok Leimarol Meirapaibi Apunba Lup, an affiliate of Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meirapaibi Lup organised a sit-in protest at Khurai Sajor Leikai community hall on Monday, demanding withdrawal of the paramilitary force from the state.
Speaking on the sidelines, Nongpok Leimarol Lup president Moirangthem Sabitri suggested that after withdrawal of the AR from the state, steps must be expedited to resettle the displaced people.
She continued that while lives have been lost and properties destroyed during the conflict, AR seems to be relishing the situation rather than take firm action against the Kuki militants who carried out violent attacks on Meetei villages, thereby justifying the demand being raised for their exit from the state.
She then urged for entrusting other security forces, particularly the state forces, the task to restore peace and order in the state, while calling upon the government to help the displaced people return to their homes and live peacefully.
