Cash aid extended to hockey team

Imphal, October 28 2024: Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, UNACCO Group extended financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the state hockey team which will participate in the 14th Hockey India Senior Men's National Championship, 2024 to be held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from November 4 .

UNACCO Group managing director Ningombam Irabanta handed over the assistance to representatives of the state team in a simple event held at UNACCO School, Khongman campus on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Irabanta highlighted the potential of state players in hockey, noting that of the three Olympic medallists from the state, one is a Hockey player, who has received the Olympic medals twice.

At the same time, there were seven hockey players out of 19 from the State who had participated in the Olympic Games, hence UNACCO Group's CSR fund to the state hockey team, he said.

Team coach Moirangthem Rinash said that the 22-member team including four officials would be leaving Imphal on November 2 .

He also informed that there are seven international players in the team and expressed confidence of winning the championship.
