Assam Rifles pays tribute to gallant soldier

Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony for Rfn/Gd HK Kuki of 4 Assam Rifles, who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
On June 27, 1963, while movement of a column from Khonsa to Ngoithong (Arunachal Pradesh), around 10:30 am, the column came under heavy fire from an unknown insurgent group.
The AR troops immediately retaliated the fire and in the ensuring heavy exchange of fire Rfn/(Gd) HK Kuki sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries, making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
Assam Rifles honoured the braveheart by paying homage at War Memorial to his supreme sacrifice for the cause of the nation, disregarding personal safety, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.
The ceremony included a poignant wreath laying and a motivational speech to all ranks narrating the story of the braveheart in the service of nation.
Four officers, 12 junior commissioned officers and 43 other ranks of Assam Rifles paid tribute by laying wreath and according a guard of honour, the release added.
