Chandel police organise anti-drug awareness

Kakching, June 24 2025: In connection with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Chandel police under the aegis of SP Babitarani Swain conducted anti-drug awareness programmes at Liwa Changning High School and Chakpikarong, Chandel district on Tuesday.

Speaking at Liwa Changning school programme, Chandel police station officer in-charge (OC) Sanjoy Chongtham appealed to the public to extend support to the police in ensuring that no tobacco product or other intoxicants are available within 100 metres of any school in the district.

The participants also took an oath to prevent drug abuse and its effect on the society.

Similarly, an anti-drug rally cum awareness programme was organised by Chakpikarong police station led by its OC Th Joy Martin at Chakpikarong Bazar, with the participation of local youth, women societies and shopkeepers.

The programme also held a detailed discussion on banning intoxicants and drugs within 100 metres of schools, tackling drug cartels and users, and maintaining law and order to reduce crime.
