Ukhrul VDFs back gun/pen down strike

Imphal, July 23 2025: Ukhrul District VDF Welfare Association declared its full support to the indefinite gun down and pen down strike announced by Central Committee of All Manipur VDF Employees' Welfare Association from August 1, 2025, in case the government fails to respond to the long pending grievances of VDF personnel by July 31 .

A release issued by the Ukhrul association reminded the state government about assurance given to the central committee in a meeting on May 17, 2025 to initiate necessary action within two-month on key demands placed by the parent body.

Unfortunately, the government has failed to take any steps or show any progress during the assured timeframe, which has led to growing dissatisfaction and unrest among the VDF personnel across the state.

The demands of the VDF personnel include implementation of Section 18 of the Police Act, 1861, service regularisation of VDF personnel and hike monthly pay structure.

In solidarity with the collective decision of the central committee and in pursuit of justice, Ukhrul District VDF Welfare Association will fully support and participate in the proposed indefinite strike movement, it reiterated, while adding th$t they Stand united with the statewide call to secure their rightful recognition and welfare.
