HC orders issuance of notice to respondents

Imphal, August 19 2021: In connection with extension for appointment of FPS agent and SK oil sub-dealer, High Court of Manipur heard a writ petition through video conferencing on August 16 and directed issuance of notice to the respondents.

A writ petition filed by Asem (O) Sanatombi Devi and 36 others to 39 respondents including the state government said that the petitioners are all fair price shop agents.

Even though the term of FPS agent and SK Sub dealers in Kakching district was extended after it lapsed, three of them in Kakching AC are yet to be extended.

After hearing arguments of the petitioner's counsel, the court directed the respondents to submit their reply within September 14 and further ordered to maintain status quo between the two parties.

Meanwhile, the petitioner's counsel on Wednesday served notices to CAF and PD commissioner/secretary, director, selection and appointment committee of FPS agent chairperson, Kakching district deputy commissioner subsequent to directive of the court.
