Training on pig farming, EM Bokashi held

A one-day training on the scientific method of pig farming and preparation of EM Bokashi was held on Friday at Khangabok Makha Leikai in Thoubal district.
The programme was jointly organised by the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Society (NERCORMS), Shillong, and the Manipur Social and Cultural Harmony Agency (MASCHA), Imphal.
Around 50 farmers took part in the training session.
MASCHA secretary Mongjam Rom-abai attended as the functional president of the event.
Central Agricultural University (CAU), department of animal husbandry's assistant professor (senior scale) Dr N Norjit delivered a lecture on modern techniques and scientific approaches to pig farming, including proper feed, hygiene, and breed selection.
College of Agriculture, CAU, department of entomology's professor Dr Khumukcham Ibohal explained the concept and benefits of EM (Effective Microorganism) Technology, demonstrating how farmers can prepare EM Bokashi - a fermented organic compost - at home using simple materials.
The training aims to equip local farmers with sustainable and efficient farming practices that enhance productivity and promote organic methods.
