Th Manihar resigns as FOCS president

Imphal, March 09 2025: Th Manihar has announced resignation as the president of Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS), Manipur on moral ground over his statement made during the Peace Rally organised by the organisation on Saturday.

As per a release issued by Th Manihar on Sunday, believing in 'Idea of Manipur' and co-existence and equal development of all indigenous communities, he had led the peace rally from Imphal to Senapati but was prevented by security forces from continuing the rally, which led to a tense situation.

As uploaded on some social media platforms, he proclaimed Manipur as the land of Meetei and Naga, while forgetting to mention other indigenous communities including Meitei Pangal, leading to strong objections from their side.

Manihar reiterated that taking moral responsibility he has decided to step down as president of FOCS, but pledged to continue working for peaceful coexistence among the ethnic communities and restore peace in the state.
