Imphal, September 08 2024:
Lenient Established Volunteer Youth of Manipur (LEVYM) and Amai-Piba Lup (APAL), Kangleipak denounced attacks carried out by Kuki militants using drone bombs and rockets in Meetei settlements that led to killing of a woman namely Ngangom Surbala and an elderly person Rk Rabei besides leaving scores injured.
In separate releases, LEVYM and APAL expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved families of Surbala and Rk Rabei.
Criticising alleged failure by the state and central government to prevent such attacks and take firm action against the perpetrators, the civil bodies also questioned the rationale behind conducting search operations in the valley areas frequently targeted by bombs rather than pursuing Kuki militants who launched attacks from the hills near the Meetei villages.
They also urged the government to end the conflict and restore peace and normalcy at the earliest.
