PK Sharma picked for Asharani Rai Award

Imphal, August 07 2025: Nepali Sahitya Parishad (NSP), Manipur has announced that the 5th Asharani Rai Memorial Award-2025 will be presented to Purna Kumar (PK) Sharma for his book 'Mutuko Khiya'(drama) .

In a release, NSP informed that the Memorial Award is a national level honour dedicated in memory of language activist and writer of Manipur Asharani Rai (July 13, 1935 - January 20, 2005) .

The award is presented triennially by the NSP in the field of Nepali literature.

According to the release, NSP Constituted a selection committee to shortlist best drama published in Nepali language from across the country between the years 2021 to 2023.The committee selected 'Mutuko Khiya' (drama) written by Purna Kumar Sharma of Samardalani, Bishwanath, Assam.

PK Sharma will be handed the 5th Asharani Rai Memorial Award 2025 comprising shawl, memento and Rs 10,000 on the occasion of Language Day on August 20, it said.
