Tamenglong joins World Environment Day observance

Tamenglong, June 05 2025: Members of Rainforest Club, Tamenglong observed World Environment Day at Chiuluan village, Tamenglong on Friday.

The observance function highlighted the positive and environment conscious effort rendered by the Chiuluan village in protection of forest and wildlife especially the global migratory bird Amur falcon (Falco amurensis) locally known as Akhuipuina/Taomuanpui in Rongmei dialect.

The Amur falcon Chiuluan2 tagged with satellite transmitter released from this village on November 8, 2024 has safely reached the Russian Amur state.

The same bird is expected to come to this village during October, 2025 after breeding season.

A brief awareness programme for environmental protection was held at village community hall followed by tree plantation drive around Chiuluan Reangaan, Old Tamenglong Reangaan, Akhui village community areas and at various schools of the district.

World Environment Day was also observed at Tamei headquarter by Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi.
