VCLA demands uninterrupted power supply

Villages Council Longmai Area (VCLA), Noney has appealed to all concerned to do the needful to ensure uninterrupted power supply in Noney district.
"Despite repeated appeals made to authorities concerned regarding frequent power outages in Noney district headquarters, the matter, much to our regret has so far, remain unattended", a release by VCLA publicity and information secretary Pouhoilung Gonmei said.
It noted that subsequent to announcement of amass agitation by joint CSOs, Longmai (Noney) area, an eight-point agreement was reached on August 18, 2024, at a meeting participated by leaders of the CSOs, district administration and Power Department.
Installation of mini-towers at the required location, preferably at places vulnerable to pole damages during unfavourable weather, along 33 KV Imphal-Noney line; upgrade of the present 3.15 MVA power capacity to 6.3 MVA, within 15 days from the date of agreement; deployment of five linemen, from risk free communities, within 15 days from the date of agreement; separate 11 KV feeder to be provided to Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) for Noney headquarters; and stationing of required additional staff and officials to ensure smooth functioning of the office, were some of the points agreed on priority basis, which was duly signed by the competent officials.
However, on investigation conducted by the local CSOs, the commitment made on mutual consent by all parties concerned, remain unattended, it claimed.
VCLA stated that with the first rain of the approaching Monsoon, the district has suffered power cut-off for nearly a week.
The prolonged power-interruption throughout the season, subjecting the people to extreme inconveniences in the past year seems inevitable this time around too, it maintained.
