Kakching, July 02 2025:
Despite dedicated efforts of sanitary workers Under Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) to keep the town clean, their work is being consistently undermined by irresponsible denizens who continue to litter public spaces with garbage and food waste.
Speaking to media persons on the issue, KMC sanitary inspector M Govardhon informed that 20 sanitary workers currently employed under the council clean the town every morning and return home by around 10 pm .
However, it is often observed the next day that certain individuals have littered the streets and public places.
Govardhon said garbage collection is carried out twice a week by KMC in various localities of Kakching.
Additionally, waste bins and plastic bottle banks have been placed at multiple locations across the town to encourage proper disposal of waste.
He also highlighted that a cleanliness competition is being conducted nationwide under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Accumulation of garbage and improper waste disposal not only ruins the town's cleanliness but also poses serious health hazards by promoting the spread of diseases, he added.
Appealing to the public, the sanitary inspector urged Kakching denizens to refrain from such careless acts and to cooperate with the sanitary workers in maintaining cleanliness.
