Imphal, May 30 2025:
The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying in the government quarters at Langol Game Village Zone 3 and 4 staged a sit-in protest at the Game Village on Friday, condemning the authority's order to vacate the quarters.
During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with the slogans like "Respect IDPs", "We are also human", "No one knows how we are living", "Don't expel us", "We have no place to go", "We are staying in government quarters because we have no place to stay".
Speaking on the sidelines, one of the IDPs reminded all concerned that majority of the IDPs staying in the government quarters are from Moreh and other places.
None of the IDPs are at the quarters out of willingness but because they cannot go back to their homes.
However, the authorities have ordered them to vacate the quarters by June 1, which is unfortunate.
As such, the IDP appealed to the authority to allow them to return to their homes or allow them to use the government quarters pending their proper rehabilitation.
