Ukhrul, June 27 2024:
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has issued a strict directive prohibiting wearing of unauthorised military or police uniforms by anyone including both locals and outsiders within its jurisdiction with immediate effect.
In a statement released Thursday, TNL president Sword Vashum stated that the decision has been taken unanimously by TNL Phungva (executive council) and the Tangkhul Frontal Organisations (TFOs) in their sitting held on Wednesday.
"Tangkhul Naga Long Phungva along with the Tangkhul Frontal Organisations (TFOs) unanimously resolved that henceforth nobody, whether locals or outsiders, should move around within the jurisdiction of Tangkhul Naga Long under the cover of armed military or police uniforms," he stated.
The move ostensibly aims to prevent unauthorised individuals from utilising military attire to gain access or influence within the Tangkhul Naga Long jurisdiction which covers both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
The statement further emphasised that severe penalties will be imposed upon anyone found violating this prohibition.
"Should anybody be found defying the above mentioned prohibition/restriction, (the violators) would be subject/liable to severe penalty," it cautioned.
