Thoubal, November 26 2024:
Poiroupat Farmers' Development Cooperative Society (PFDCS), Imphal East has appealed to the government and Department of Agriculture to distribute winter crop and paddy seeds ('Anganphou') to facilitate double cropping.
Addressing a press meet at Yairipok Tulihal, on Tuesday, PFDCS secretary Kh Tomchou rued lack of assistance from the Department of Agriculture and revealed that despite their requests for provision of paddy seeds, they have not received a single seed.
The Society made repeated requests through the media and in writing to the agriculture director, however, the department has initiated distribution of the seeds, citing non-availability, he said.
Tomchou reasoned that as the paddy season has ended, they requested the department concerned to distribute winter crop seeds like mustard, as soon as possible so that they can practice double cropping during winter months.
The press meet was also attended by other PFDCS members.
