Indian Army observes 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas and honour the gallant heroes of Operation Vijay, Indian Army organised an interaction and felicitation event with ex-servicemen and their next of kin in Senapati district.
In a release, PRO Defence informed that the event honoured one "Veer Mata", four "Veer Naari" and 54 war veterans of Operation Vijay, majorly of the 1 and 2 Naga Regiments of the Indian Army, who witnessed the Kargil victory first-hand.
The event was attended by Red Shield Division GOC major general SS Kartikeya, who welcomed and thanked all the veterans for their contribution and sacrifices.
As part of the programme, three gallantry awardees of Operation Vijay namely N Takhra, mother of Vir Chakra (posthumous) awardee sepoy Kapani Ashulimao of 1 Naga Regiment was felicitated for his supreme sacrifice along with Sena Medal awardees havaldar Sani Mao of 1 Naga Regiment and havaldar Adahrini of 2 Naga Regiment who were recognised for their bravery and gallant actions during the operation.
The event concluded with the Indian Army expressing gratitude to all the veterans for their essential contributions to the Kargil victory, marking the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, said the PRO.
Indian Army organised a series of events at Leimakhong Military Station to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav.
The commemoration began with a tree plantation drive, inaugurated by major general SS Kartikeya and Red Shield Family Welfare Organisation chairperson Priya Kartikeya with planting of a sapling.
In addition to the plantation drive, a weapon and equipment display was organised at the station, featuring an array of weapons from both fighting and combat-support arms, providing insight into the Indian Army's military capabilities.
It offered families and children an opportunity to witness the measures adopted to ensure national security.
An Army Band display was also organised for all ranks and families of the station.
