Month-long observance concludes

The month-long observance of World Hypertension Day organised by State NCD Division, National Health Mission, Manipur of Directorate of Health Services on the theme of 'Measure your blood pressure accurately, control it, live longer', culminated at Hotel Imolesh in New Lambulane on Monday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Health Services director Dr Chambo Gonmei explained that hypertension is one of the many lifestyle non-communicable diseases but often time, we fail to take preventive measures.
If hypertension is not put under control, it could even lead to heart attacks.
Although high blood pressure could be caused by genetics, it could be put under control through lifestyle changes such as curbing the consumption of salt, red meat and fats, eating healthy and regular exercise.
Another preventive measure is maintaining body weight, he conveyed.
The closing function was attended by Family Welfare director Dr N Hemantaku mar as president and NP-NCD state nodal officer Dr Y Premchandra as members on the dais.
