Livestock insurance programme launched

Imphal, June 23 2024: In a move to support local farmers and enhance security of their livelihoods, Bishnupur District Cooperative Milk Union Limited (BIMUL) in collaboration with the National Insurance Company (NIC) has launched a door-to-door livestock insurance programme at the office of the representative of BIMUL in Bishnupur district on Saturday.

In a release, BIMUL managing director Chongtham Malemnganba Singh said that the initiative held under the aegis of the National Livestock Mission (NLM) and Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Bishnupur joint director will focus on providing insurance for dairy and piggery livestock, ensuring farmers receive the necessary coverage to protect their valuable assets.

The launch programme was attended by Dr Khuraijam Dhananjoy Singh, Dr Laishram Arjun Singh, Dr Sunita Nambam, Dr Thangjam Reena Devi and Dr Kangabam Bidyalaxmi as resource persons, it added.
