Protests staged against arrest of VVs, PR imposition

Imphal, February 22 2025: Denouncing arrest of village volunteers, imposition of President's rule and demanding formation of government at the earliest, several protests including Meira Rally, human chain were staged in different areas on Saturday.

On Saturday evening, a large number of people formed human chain with torch (Meira) on their hands shouting slogans against arrest of village volunteers, imposition of PR and demanding formation of state government at the earliest from Lamboikhongnangkhong along Uripok Kangchup road till Uripok fly over bridge.

A large number of Meira Paibi from Lamboi Khongnangkhong began marching tow ards Uripok but were stopped and forced to turn back by security forces upon reaching Naoremthong.

Protestors forming human chain in different areas of Uripok started to march towards Uripok fly over bridge, but police made to return from the over bridge.

Similar protests were also held in different areas along Imphal-Jiribam road and at Sekmai Keithel by Meira Paibis demanding formation of state government and opposing imposition of President's rule in the state.

On Friday evening, Meira Paibis formed human chain in different villages under Lamlai assembly constituency and similar protest was staged in front of Pangei Yang-dong market shed shouting slogans against arrest of village volunteers, imposition of PR and demanding formation of state government at the earliest.
