Advocacy cum training on PMVDY held

A daylong District Level Advocacy cum Training Programme on Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY), which aims to promote tribal entrepreneurship through value addition, branding and marketing of fruits and other edibles found in forest, was held for tribal enterprises/self-help groups of Tengnoupal district at K Koshang Memorial community hall, Khangshim village, Tengnoupal on Thursday.
The programme organised by PMVDA implementing agency Tengnoupal Forest Division Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) under the aegis of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) and Forest Department was attended by Moreh additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Md Asghar Arzad as chief guest and Tengnoupal Forest Division DCF Mahamuda Begum as president, while Meira Foods founder cum managing director Hanjabam Shubra Devi and Khangshim village chief Angshem Tontang were guests of honour.
Tengnoupal range forest officer (RFO) Athokpam Ranabir, Machi RFO SR Marson Anal, and Moreh sub deputy collector Md Sheikh Tarif also attended the function.
Speaking at the programme, DCF Mahamuda informed that under PMVDY training will be provided to tribal enterprises/SHGs on knowhow to store and preserve fruits and other edibles during their availability and then process it (value addition) and sell it (branding & marketing) along with distributing required tools and equipment to SHGs.
During the training which was attended by various women SHGs of Tengnoupal district, Meira Foods founder cum MD H Shubra and her staff provided training on preserving fruits and to process them into candy, pickle, etc., for more desirability by consumers.
