IDPs sensitised on waste management

Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) organised awareness programmes on 'Management of municipal solid waste, e-waste, hazardous waste, bio-medical waste, water pollution, air pollution and single use plastic' for the internally displaced persons IDPs) staying at the Yangbi High School, Wabagai, and Sanatombi High School, Keirak relief camps in Kakching district on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, MPCB chairman Dr U Deben called for public cooperation in proper management of waste materials for a safer environment.
He said that waste materials are generated on daily basis and improper disposal of such materials leads to pollution to the environment further affecting the nature as well as human health.
Despite the negative impacts, people often ignore it, he said while urging for developing a habit of proper disposal of waste materials.
Later, he distributed Rs 1000 to each families in the two relief camps.
