Protest continues over Kamalbabu's disappearance

In continuation of the agitation launched by CO-COMI Jiribam District Council in connection with the involuntary disappearance of Kamalbabu, a sit-in protest was held at Lamlen Atingba (Hilghat), here, on Monday.
The sit-in protest also called for the perpetrators of the brutal murder of three women and three children in Borobekra to be brought to justice, repeal of AFSPA from Jiribam, and for the government to punish those responsible for the killing of Khundrakpam Athouba.
The sit-in was participated by meira paibi activists of So-rok Atingbi Kamrang Leikai.
One of the protestors expressed disappointment over the failure of the state government to trace the whereabouts of Laishram Kamalbabu of Cachar, who went missing from the Army camp in Leimakhong, and demanded that the government locate his whereabouts at the earliest.
In addition to demanding immediate actions against those involved in the killing of three women and three children after abduction from Borobekra, the woman protestor also urged the government for befitting punishment of the police personnel involved in the killing of Khundrakpam Athouba, a student of Jiri College during an agitation launched at Khuningthek (Kamranga) Leikai in connection with the Borobekra incident.
The protestors chanted slogans and held placards demanding return of peace, condemning failure to ascertain whereabouts of Kamalbabu and arrest of village volunteers, protect civilian population, repeal of AFSPA from Jiribam, etc.
