Imphal, May 13 2021:
Pointing out that there are several people, who have voluntarily come out to fight the Covid-19 pandemic by carrying out activities similar to the ones being performed by the frontline workers, Waiton GP pradhan P Surbala has appealed to the state government to recognise those volunteers as frontline workers as well.
In a statement, the prad-han said that the GP has been providing various support to the people under its jurisdiction including arranging visit to testing facilities as well as ambulance service.
They have also been providing ration and other assistance to families in containment zones.
Recently, school van driver Leitanthem Prakash has started offering service to people needing transport service to undergo tests at designated centres.
However, Prakash is bearing all the service cost including PPE and he might not be the only person offering such voluntary service.
The government should recognise their efforts and provide necessary support to them.
The pradhan further appealed to the people to maintain strict SOP and stay safe from the pandemic.
