Nata Sankirtana workshop concludes

Kakching, January 13 2025: The 15-day Manipuri Nata Sankirtana workshop jointly organised by Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum (Tripura), Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (Imphal) and Manipur State Kala Akademi (Imphal) at Tarou Mandop, Nalgaria, Agartala (Tripura) concluded on Monday.

The valedictory function of the workshop was attended by JN Manipur Dance Academy vice chairman Longjam Joychandra and Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura president Ningombam Bira as chief guest and president respectively while Manipur State Kala Akademi secretary Sunanda Thokchom and JN Manipur Dance Academy director Bilash Pukhrambam were the guests of honour.

The workshop featured prominent Gurus from the Academy, including Kshetrimayum Kirti Sharma, N Upendra, and E Gourachand, who trained eight drummers (Pung Yeiba) and eight Nata Sankirtana artistes from West Tripura, Khowai and Sipahijala districts.

During the event, the Gurus presented citations and shawls to the 16 participants.

The function also included performances of drum beating and Nata Sankirtana, as well as a presentation of the Nimai Sanyas.

A poetry recital was also held to mark the occasion.
