AR pays tribute to martyred soldier

Imphal, July 12 2024:
Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) conducted a solemn wreath-laying ceremony to honour rifleman (General Duty) Top Bahadur Chhetri, who made the ultimate sacrifice on July 12, 1961 .
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) recounted that rifleman Chhetri was fatally wounded during a fire fight with underground elements at Akhileto village in Nagaland's Zunheboto district, ultimately succumbing to his injuries.
Informing that the event was attended by five officers, 17 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 107 Other Ranks (OR), the PRO said in a poignant tribute, the battalion and Assam Rifles paid their respects by laying a wreath and rendering a guard of honour, saluting the supreme sacrifice made by Top Bahadur Chhetri for the nation.
